Take Back Control At Work

A 90-minute practical reset for when everything feels urgent

Man sitting with a stressed look on his face, staring at a laptop, with two men behind him staring at another device. They need to take back control at work.

If your day is being driven by other people’s priorities…

If you’re saying “yes” more than you want to…

If you’re carrying things home that were never yours to carry…

This session is where you steady yourself and take control again.

Not more theory. Not another talk, but…

A focused, guided working session using your real situations.

What you’ll walk away with

By the end of this session, you will have:

  • Clarity on what is actually driving your pressure right now

  • Made 1–2 decisions you’ve been putting off

  • Practical language to handle requests without overcommitting

  • A simple plan you can use next week

You’ll feel clearer, calmer, and more in control of how you respond at work.

How This Session Works

A pile of papers to resemble extensive workload

We’ll identify where your workload is really coming from

We’ll map your current pressures and separate:

  • What is yours to own

  • What you’ve taken on by default

  • What is being driven by expectation

Result: You see where your load is coming from — and what can change.

man hiding in a corner with lots of post it notes on his face - he is clearly overloaded at work.

We’ll explore the moments that quietly overload your week

Bring one situation where you struggle to say no.

We’ll work through:

  • What’s driving your response (guilt, expectation, identity)

  • What your capacity actually looks like

  • How to respond in a way that protects both your time and your relationships

You’ll leave with words you can use immediately.

We’ll work through what to do when everything feels urgent

We’ll take a current challenge and break it down into:

  • What you can control

  • What you can influence

  • What is outside your control

Result: Less overwhelm. Clear focus on what actually moves things forward.

Wooden scrabble pieces that say start making changes.

You’ll identify one change that will make a difference next week

You’ll decide:

  • One boundary to put in place

  • One behaviour to change

  • One conversation to have

And you’ll leave with a simple follow-through plan.

Who Is This For?

Professionals - especially in housing and other high-demand environments, who:

·      Feel pulled in multiple directions

·      Carry more than feels sustainable

·      Want to think clearly and respond intentionally

·      Are ready to change how they work, not just work harder

You do not need a leadership title.

If you’re managing expectations, making decisions, and carrying responsibility — you are already leading.

What people often realise

In sessions like this, people often discover they’ve been carrying far more than is actually theirs to own — and that small, deliberate changes make a bigger difference than trying to fix everything.

Meet your Coach & Mentor - Sharon Smith

I’m Sharon, founder of Own Your Leadership.

I work with people who care deeply about their work but are starting to feel the pressure of it — the pace, the expectations, the constant demand.

My coaching is grounded in lived experience. I’ve been the person saying yes to everything, carrying too much, and trying to prove myself — and I know how quickly that becomes unsustainable.

Now, I support people to feel more in control of how they work and lead, building confidence, clarity, and practical leadership skills that actually hold up in real life.

If you want to take back control at work, then something has to change.

You’ll continue with the same inbox, the same requests, and the same expectations.

The difference is whether you respond in the same way.

This session gives you the space and the structure to choose differently.
